Students from Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ), through the Humanitarian Club, brought smiles and hope to young patients at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) – Cancer Diseases Hospital paediatrics section by donating assorted goodies and gifts as part of the Christmas celebrations.
The donation exercise saw TAUZ students present food items, toys, and Christmas gifts to children receiving treatment at the facility. The initiative was aimed at sharing love and encouragement with the young patients during the festive season, while also uplifting their spirits and those of their families.
The donated items were mobilised from well-wishers within the student community, reflecting the strong culture of compassion, volunteerism, and social responsibility among TAUZ students.
Led by Humanitarian Club President, Ms. Gaudencia P.I. Nghiitwikwa a Namibian medical student, the team also took time to interact with the patients, sharing words of encouragement, laughter, and moments of joy that created a warm and festive atmosphere within the ward.
Staff from the University Teaching Hospital were on hand to receive the students and the donated items, and they expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that such acts of kindness go a long way in providing emotional support to children undergoing treatment.
The visit underscores Texila American University Zambia’s commitment to community engagement and humanitarian service, encouraging students to apply empathy and social responsibility beyond the classroom.
Through initiatives such as this, TAUZ continues to inspire its students to make a meaningful difference in society while upholding the values of care, compassion, and service to humanity.
