Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) on 21st January 2026 held a strategic engagement meeting with the Zambia Union of Nurses and Midwives Organisation (ZUNO) at the union’s offices, aimed at strengthening collaboration in advancing healthcare education and professional development.
The TAUZ delegation was led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Balamurugan Easwaran, and included Ms. Mercy Lwando, Business Development Executive, and Mr. Aaron Chiyanzo, Public Relations Officer. ZUNO was represented by its President, Mr. Fray Michelo, Secretary General, Mr. Martin Muloongo, and Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Mumba Sembulo.
The meeting focused on exploring areas of partnership between the two institutions, particularly in capacity building, professional training, and academic progression for nurses and midwives in Zambia.
Speaking during the meeting, Dr. Balamurugan Easwaran reaffirmed TAUZ’s commitment to supporting the healthcare sector through quality education. He noted that Texila American University Zambia is keen to work closely with professional bodies such as ZUNO to enhance skills development and career progression for nurses and midwives.
In his remarks, ZUNO President Mr. Fray Michelo welcomed the engagement and commended TAUZ for its proactive approach in engaging the union. He emphasized that continuous professional development and access to quality education are critical to strengthening healthcare service delivery in the country. The meeting concluded with both TAUZ and ZUNO expressing commitment to further dialogue and collaboration, with the shared goal of contributing positively to the development of Zambia’s healthcare workforce.
