Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) has officially launched the Senior Leadership Development Program—a prestigious, 5-day residential training program designed to equip captains of industry with the advanced leadership skills and strategic insight needed to navigate today’s complex business environment.
The launch event, held at the university’s Lilayi Campus in Lusaka, attracted top-level executives, representatives from key professional bodies, and members of the media. The program, which will be hosted in Livingstone later this year, aims to serve as a transformational platform for senior leaders across the corporate, public, and non-profit sectors.
The event was officiated by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Media, Mr. Thabo Kawana, who was represented by Director of Planning Mr. Louis Mwansa. In his address, Mr. Mwansa praised TAUZ for creating a program that aligns with Zambia’s national development agenda and emphasized the importance of developing ethical, visionary leaders.
“Zambia needs transformational leadership now more than ever,” said Mr. Mwansa. “This program responds to that call by equipping senior executives with the tools to lead with strategy, integrity, and innovation.”
TAUZ Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajay Poddar expressed the university’s commitment to expanding its impact beyond academic training by engaging directly with industry leaders through executive education.
“This launch marks a significant milestone for Texila. We are proud to provide a platform that speaks to the real needs of today’s leaders,” said Prof. Poddar. “This is more than a training—it’s an experience designed to foster vision, build networks, and support the strategic transformation of institutions.”
The launch featured powerful insights from distinguished guest speakers who underscored the importance of leadership development in national economic growth. Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI) President Mr. Anthony Kabaghe stressed the need for leaders who can drive both innovation and inclusion in business.
Ms. Mirriam Chiyaba, President of the Institute of Directors of Zambia, encouraged participants to uphold corporate governance and ethical leadership as a foundation for long-term sustainability.
Also speaking was Dr. Kuldip Paliwal, Executive Committee Member of the Bankers Association of Zambia, who called for stronger cross-sector collaboration in building a resilient economy. Ms. Inonge Chabala, Education Manager at the Zambia Institute of Marketing, emphasized the value of leadership programs in sharpening strategic thinking and market adaptation.
Participants at the event lauded the university for introducing a timely and relevant program that bridges academia and industry needs. The upcoming residential training in Livingstone is expected to feature intensive sessions on strategic leadership, change management, corporate governance, innovation, and policy engagement, facilitated by both local and international experts.
With this launch, TAUZ reaffirms its position as a forward-thinking institution committed to developing leadership that makes a lasting impact across Zambia and the region.
Upcoming Programme: The next Senior Leadership Development Programme will be held in Livingstone, 10–14 November 2025, empowering leaders with transformative skills, strategic insight, and global perspectives.
