Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) held a strategic engagement meeting with the National Assembly Committee on Health, Community Development and Social Services to explore opportunities for collaboration in advancing health education and national capacity building.
The high-level meeting, which brought together eight Honourable Members of Parliament from the Committee, focused on shared priorities aimed at strengthening healthcare training, promoting access to education through the KK Scholarship, and advancing initiatives aligned with Zambia’s national health goals.
The TAUZ delegation was led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajay Poddar, who was accompanied by Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. Balamurugan Easwaran, Dean of the School of Medicine Dr. Amit Singh, and Dean of the School of Public Health Prof. Patrick Chanda.

The university also highlighted its commitment to supporting underprivileged learners through the KK Scholarship programme, which offers financial assistance to students with strong academic potential but limited financial means.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Poddar expressed gratitude to the Committee for its openness to collaboration and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to contributing to Zambia’s health education sector through innovative academic programmes, research, and public-private partnerships.
The Committee commended TAUZ for its proactive approach in engaging key stakeholders and expressed interest in continued dialogue to support the development of Zambia’s health workforce.
The engagement marks a significant step towards fostering institutional partnerships that will enhance the quality and accessibility of healthcare education in the country.
