Students at Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) experienced a lively and refreshing Yoga session conducted by the Indian Embassy in Zambia, bringing an exciting blend of fitness and cultural exchange to campus life.
The session, held at the university’s Lilayi Campus, was facilitated by Dr. Hrushikesh P. Tripuraa, who guided the students through a series of body-stretching and twisting postures. For many of the first-time participants, the experience was both exhilarating and challenging, as they discovered the physical and mental discipline behind the ancient Indian practice.
Speaking after the activity, students expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn yoga, noting its benefits for improving flexibility, reducing stress, and enhancing concentration. The initiative also underscored the growing friendship and collaboration between Zambia and India, particularly in promoting wellness and intercultural understanding among young people.
Texila American University Zambia Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ajay Poddar, commended the Indian Embassy for partnering with the university to promote holistic well-being among students.
“At Texila, we believe education goes beyond academics. Activities like yoga sessions not only support physical fitness but also nurture mindfulness, discipline, and balance — essential qualities for our students’ personal and professional growth,” said Prof. Poddar.
The event marked another milestone in TAUZ’s ongoing commitment to fostering a well-rounded educational environment that encourages health, cultural diversity, and student engagement beyond the classroom.
