Lusaka, Zambia – Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) recently hosted a Breast Cancer Awareness Program aimed at educating students on the importance of early detection and proactive health management.
The program featured insightful sessions led by faculty members from the School of Medicine, Dr. Sunita Sethy and Dr. Chimuka Mwaanga, who highlighted the prevalence of breast cancer and the critical need for regular screenings. Students were guided on how to perform self-checks and encouraged to seek medical advice promptly when necessary.
Speaking during the program, Dr. Sethy emphasized, “Early detection remains one of the most effective tools in the fight against breast cancer. Awareness and regular check-ups can save lives.” Dr. Mwaanga added, “It is vital for young women to understand their bodies and prioritize health, as prevention and timely intervention are key.”
The initiative forms part of TAUZ’s commitment to promoting student health and wellness, empowering students with knowledge to make informed decisions about their well-being.
