Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) has officially inaugurated the 2026 Student Representative Council (SRC), ushering in a new team of student leaders who will represent the interests of the student community during their term of office.
The inauguration marked an important milestone in the University’s commitment to promoting student leadership, participation and responsible representation, while providing the newly elected SRC with an opportunity to formally assume their leadership responsibilities.
The ceremony also provided an opportunity to recognise and appreciate the 2025 SRC for their commitment, service and contribution to the TAUZ student community throughout their tenure.
As a mark of appreciation, University Management presented certificates to both the outgoing and incoming SRC teams, recognising the contribution of student leaders and encouraging the new council to build on the achievements of their predecessors.
Speaking during the inauguration, Vice Chancellor Dr. Balamurugan Easwaran congratulated the newly elected SRC members and urged them to view their positions as an opportunity to serve rather than simply hold titles.
Dr. Easwaran also commended the outgoing SRC for their contribution, noting that effective student leadership plays an important role in strengthening the relationship between students and University Management.
TAUZ Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Gajendra Singh, congratulated both the outgoing and incoming councils, emphasising the importance of developing leadership skills that extend beyond the university environment.
Dr. Singh encouraged the newly inaugurated SRC to embrace their responsibilities with integrity, professionalism and a spirit of teamwork.
“Your time as student leaders is an opportunity to develop skills that will remain with you long after you leave the University. Leadership requires integrity, accountability and the courage to listen to different perspectives. We expect the new SRC to lead by example and contribute positively to the growth of the University,” Dr. Singh said.
He further urged the student representatives to work collaboratively with their colleagues and University leadership, assuring them of Management’s support as they undertake their responsibilities.
The inauguration also highlighted the University’s continued efforts to create opportunities for students to participate meaningfully in campus affairs and develop leadership capabilities.
As the 2026 SRC takes on the mantle of student leadership, TAUZ looks forward to a year characterised by strong representation, responsible leadership, collaboration and positive impact across the University.
The new SRC is expected to serve as an important link between the student body and University Management, helping to communicate student perspectives while contributing to initiatives that enhance campus life and the overall student experience.
