Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) and the Zambia Union of Nurses and Midwives Organisation (ZUNMO) have renewed their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), reaffirming their commitment to advancing nursing and midwifery education, professional development, research, and healthcare service delivery in Zambia.
The MoU was renewed during a colourful signing ceremony held at the University’s Lilayi Campus in Lusaka. The event brought together more than ten leaders from ZUNMO, including Union President Mr. Fray Michelo, Provincial Leaders, and Branch Leaders, alongside members of the University’s management.
Deputy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Balamurugan Easwaran, signed the agreement on behalf of Texila American University Zambia, while ZUNMO President, Mr. Fray Michelo, signed on behalf of the union. The renewed partnership reflects the shared vision of both institutions to continue working together in promoting excellence in nursing and midwifery education, capacity building, and the development of a competent healthcare workforce for Zambia.
Speaking during the ceremony, both parties expressed confidence that the renewed Memorandum of Understanding would further strengthen collaboration in areas of mutual interest, creating more opportunities for nurses and midwives to enhance their academic qualifications and professional competencies while contributing to improved healthcare delivery across the country.
Following the signing ceremony, the ZUNMO delegation was taken on a guided tour of the University’s modern campus facilities. The union leaders expressed admiration for the University’s state-of-the-art infrastructure, including its lecture rooms, laboratories, library, and student learning facilities, describing the campus as a conducive environment for quality higher education and professional training.
The renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding marks another significant milestone in the long-standing partnership between Texila American University Zambia and the Zambia Union of Nurses and Midwives Organisation, reinforcing their collective commitment to producing highly skilled healthcare professionals and supporting the continued growth of Zambia’s health sector through education, innovation, and collaboration.
