Students from the School of Business and Information Technology (IT) at Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) have showcased an impressive project developed for the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) Website Upgrade Competition, demonstrating the university’s growing reputation for innovation and practical learning.
As part of the national competition aimed at improving user experience and functionality on the ZRA website, the students presented their proposed system to the university management, highlighting new features designed to enhance efficiency, accessibility, and digital engagement for Zambian taxpayers.
The presentation session was attended by Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajay Poddar, senior faculty members, and administrators who commended the students for their creativity and problem-solving approach. Prof. Poddar expressed admiration for the quality of work produced, describing it as a reflection of TAUZ’s commitment to equipping students with hands-on, industry-relevant skills.
“I am very impressed with the level of innovation and professionalism displayed by our students,” Prof. Poddar said. “This project shows that Texila students are ready to compete at the highest level. I am optimistic that their solution will stand out against entries from other top universities.”
The project integrates both technical and business perspectives, a testament to the interdisciplinary training that defines the School of Business and IT. The students developed user-friendly interfaces and digital tools aimed at simplifying tax services and improving interaction between ZRA and its clients.
Speaking on behalf of the team, the student leaders expressed gratitude for the support received from faculty and management, noting that the experience had strengthened their confidence in tackling real-world challenges.
The initiative aligns with TAUZ’s strategic goal of fostering innovation, research, and entrepreneurship among its students while contributing practical solutions to national development.
Through such projects, Texila American University Zambia continues to position itself as a hub of applied learning, digital innovation, and academic excellence in the region.
