Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) joined the rest of the nation in celebrating Zambia’s 61st Independence Anniversary through active participation in the Independence Day Aerobics Mania hosted by Cheryl Gardens in Lusaka. The event brought together fitness enthusiasts, students, and members of the community to celebrate health, unity, and patriotism through physical activity.
As part of the celebration, TAUZ organized a Health Camp at the event venue where medical students provided basic health check-ups and shared vital health information with attendees. The camp offered free services such as blood pressure checks, body mass index (BMI) assessments, and health education on disease prevention and lifestyle management.
The team was led by Ms. Niza Rean Belvin, a faculty member from the School of Public Health, who commended the students for their dedication to community engagement and their commitment to promoting preventive health practices.
Speaking during the event, Ms. Belvin highlighted that such initiatives align with the university’s vision of producing graduates who not only excel academically but also contribute meaningfully to society. She noted that the activity provided students with a practical platform to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world community setting. Participants at the Aerobics Mania appreciated the presence of the TAUZ team, noting that the health camp added great value to the event by promoting awareness on fitness and wellness.
