Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) successfully held its 2025 Graduation Ceremony at the prestigious Taj Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka, marking another milestone in the university’s academic journey of “Bringing Education to Life.”
The colorful event was officiated by the Minister of Health, Hon. Dr. Elijah Muchima, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary for Donor Coordination, Dr. George Sinyangwe. In his speech, Dr. Sinyangwe commended Texila American University Zambia for its consistent contribution to the health and education sectors, particularly through the training of qualified medical professionals.
“As a Ministry, we recognize the critical role that institutions such as Texila play in helping Zambia meet its healthcare demands,” he said. “We are proud to see graduates from this university joining the national and global workforce with the competence and ethics needed in today’s world.”
The keynote address was delivered by Brigadier General Prof. Lawson Simapuka, Executive Director of the National Forensic Authority, who encouraged graduates to pursue impact beyond titles.
“Graduation is not the end, it is the beginning,” he said. “As you leave here today, do not simply aim for employment, aim to be relevant. Aim to provide solutions. Zambia needs professionals who will bring innovation and leadership in every field, particularly in health sciences, forensics, ICT, and business.”
Speaking on behalf of the university, Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajay Poddar congratulated the graduates and emphasized TAUZ’s continued commitment to producing socially responsible and globally competent professionals.
“This ceremony is a testament to the resilience, hard work, and excellence that define the Texila academic community,” Prof. Poddar said. “We are not just awarding degrees; we are sending out problem solvers, change-makers, and ethical leaders into the world.”
He further reaffirmed the university’s vision of aligning its academic policies with national development agendas and international standards.
Also in attendance was Dr. Paul Chibwe, President of the Registered Dentists Association of Zambia (RDAZ), who was present as a special guest. Dr. Chibwe urged the graduates, especially those in the health sciences, to serve with compassion and uphold professional ethics.
“Patients are not just cases; they are people. Let your service be guided by empathy, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence,” he said.
The ceremony was punctuated with moments of pride and joy as graduating students from various programs including Medicine, Public Health, Business, Information Technology, and Education received their degrees. Families, faculty members, and invited guests gathered in celebration of academic achievement and the promise of a brighter future.
With this event, TAUZ reaffirms its role as a rising educational institution in Zambia and the SADC region, producing graduates ready to create meaningful impact in a global society.
