Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) has proudly unveiled the recipients of the prestigious Kenneth Kaunda (KK) Scholarship, a full scholarship initiative established in honor of Zambia’s First Republican President, the late Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda.
The scholarship, which covers full tuition, examination, and related academic fees for the entire duration of the medical program, was awarded to three outstanding young Zambians:
- Mr. Sunday Chileshe
- Mr. Wilson Sikanyika
- Mr. Abraham Mwale
During the official announcement ceremony, held at the university’s Lilayi Campus, Mr. Tilyenji Kaunda, son of the late President, commended the university for honoring his father’s legacy through education.
“This initiative keeps my father’s legacy alive by investing in future generations of healthcare leaders. It’s a meaningful tribute to a man who believed in education and service to humanity,” Mr. Kaunda said.
TAUZ Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ajay Poddar, highlighted the broader impact of the scholarship on national development.
“We are not only honoring a great statesman, but also empowering young Zambians to make a difference in the health sector. We believe these students will carry the KK legacy with dignity and impact.”
Dean of the School of Medicine and Chairperson of the Scholarship Selection Committee, Dr. Amit Singh, said the three students were selected based on merit.
“All three candidates met the requirements and demonstrated great academic potential and a passion for serving their communities through medicine,” Dr. Singh said.
The KK Scholarship is part of TAUZ’s ongoing commitment to support talented students from diverse backgrounds and contribute to Zambia’s healthcare system by nurturing competent and compassionate medical professionals.
