In a commendable effort to support Breast Cancer Awareness Month, medical students from Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) carried out a Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in the Lilayi and Chalala areas of Lusaka.
The students promoted regular breast cancer screenings and the importance of self-examinations as preventive measures, drawing attention to early detection’s life-saving potential.
The campaign included an energetic march along Lilayi Road, where the students held placards with powerful messages on breast cancer prevention.
Beyond the march, students took the time to engage with community members, sharing essential information about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and the importance of early testing.
Ms. Niza Rean, a lecturer at TAUZ who accompanied the students, expressed her pride in their dedication to making a difference.
“It’s inspiring to see our students taking the lead in community health education. Their enthusiasm in raising awareness on breast cancer and encouraging preventive practices is a reflection of their commitment to impactful healthcare,” she said.
The awareness campaign was well received by community members, who expressed gratitude for the students’ efforts to bring critical health information directly to them. TAUZ remains committed to community health initiatives that empower individuals to take charge of their health through awareness and preventive measures.
