Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) welcomed its new Health Professions Foundation Program (HPFP) students with a vibrant cultural showcase featuring a mesmerizing Kathak dance performance by renowned Indian artist, Ms. Priyanka Rawat.
The performance, held in Lecture Theatre 2 (LT2), brought an air of elegance and tradition to the university grounds as Ms. Rawat captivated the audience with her expressive storytelling, rhythmic footwork, and graceful movements—hallmarks of the classical Indian Kathak dance form.
Adding a local touch to the event was Ms. Avni Singh, a Zambia-based Kathak dancer and student of Ms. Rawat, who joined her mentor on stage in a beautiful demonstration of how art transcends borders and cultures. The event was further electrified by a surprise performance from rising Zambian music sensation Kinz World, who brought energy and modern flair to the cultural afternoon.
Staff and students alike were treated to a rare fusion of classical Indian dance and contemporary Zambian music, reflecting TAUZ’s commitment to embracing diversity and celebrating the richness of global cultures.
Speaking after the performance, several students expressed their admiration for the cultural experience, describing it as “inspiring,” “eye-opening,” and “a refreshing welcome to university life.”
This event forms part of Texila’s ongoing efforts to create a dynamic, inclusive, and globally aware campus environment for its students.
