In a significant move to promote preventive healthcare, Northern Opticians and Eye Clinic conducted a comprehensive free Eye and Dental Check-Up for staff and students at Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) in Lilayi, Lusaka.
The health initiative, held on campus, provided a variety of essential medical services including computerized eye screening, dental screening, weight and BMI checks, ophthalmic counselling, and diabetes and blood pressure screening. A team of qualified health professionals from Northern Opticians carried out the procedures using modern diagnostic tools, ensuring accurate assessments and expert guidance.
The exercise was well-received by the TAUZ community, with many participants expressing gratitude for the convenient access to free healthcare services. According to representatives from Northern Opticians, such screenings play a crucial role in early detection and timely intervention for common health issues, especially among university students and academic staff.
TAUZ Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ajay Poddar, praised the collaboration, stating:
“This initiative demonstrates the value of partnerships in advancing the well-being of our university community. We thank Northern Opticians and Eye Clinic for bringing these vital services directly to our campus.”
The university has pledged to continue exploring similar partnerships and initiatives aimed at improving the overall health and wellness of its staff and students, as part of its broader commitment to holistic education and community care.
