Top Diplomat Hails Texila American University’s Strides in Higher Education

A top Zimbabwean diplomat hailed Texila American University’s educational initiatives in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Zimbabwe Ambassador to Zambia, Her Excellency Ms. Gertrude Takawira congratulated the university on the inauguration of a new campus in Zambia as she received a Texila American University, Zambia management delegation on 2 March.

She said she was happy to learn that Zimbabwean students are enrolled in Texila programs, and called to speed up efforts to include Zimbabwe on the Texila Academy Online Platform.

Ambassador Takawira also welcomed the future plans of Texila American University to establish its operations in Zimbabwe and assured the support of the government. She also said Zimbabwe has only the University of Zimbabwe and the National University of Science and Technology (NUST) for students to pursue medicine.

She commended Texila American University for partnering with the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ZACCI), the Zambia Medical Association (ZMA), and the Higher Education Authority among others.

Texila American University Zambia Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Pankaj Maheshwari sought the embassy’s support to facilitate partnerships between Zimbabwean organizations operating in Zambia and the university.

Mr. Pankaj Maheshwari assured the Ambassador that the over 50+ Zimbabwean students of Texila American University are in safe hands and that the university is working on constructing more hostels at the new campus.

Texila American University Director for Sales, Mr. Karthick Raghupathy Muthuvel said international students are being offered free accommodation on campus for six months.

“We understand it takes time for foreign students to find their feet in Zambia, and we take them under our wings, and offer free accommodation for the first six months,” Mr. Karthick Raghupathy said.
