The Student Representative Council (SRC) of Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) organized a vibrant Fun Day at South Park in Lusaka to welcome newly admitted students with a day filled with games, laughter, and team-building activities.
The event, held over the weekend, was part of the university’s ongoing efforts to create an inclusive and engaging environment for first-year students. Attendees participated in a variety of interactive games and group challenges designed to help them build friendships, develop teamwork skills, and relax after a busy orientation week.
Speaking during the event, SRC President Mr. Aquila Chilanga said the Fun Day was not only about entertainment, but also about nurturing a sense of community among the students.
“We wanted our new students to feel at home. University life can be overwhelming in the beginning, so we created this event to give them a chance to unwind, interact with peers, and start building lifelong connections,” said Mr. Chilanga.
“Team-building activities are not just fun — they teach collaboration, leadership, and communication, which are all important qualities both in and out of the classroom,” he added.
Many students expressed gratitude to the SRC for organizing the event, describing it as memorable and uplifting. The day concluded with refreshments and a group photo session that captured the spirit of unity and excitement among the TAUZ student body.
The Fun Day marks the beginning of a series of student-led initiatives planned by the SRC to enhance student life and promote campus engagement throughout the academic year.
