Students at Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) have benefited from a Mental Health and Stress Awareness Talk organized by the Medical Club in collaboration with Youth Alive Zambia, aimed at promoting emotional wellbeing and encouraging open conversations around mental health among university students.
The interactive session was facilitated by Ms. Gift from Youth Alive Zambia, who engaged students through insightful discussions and practical activities designed to help them understand stress management techniques, identify common stress triggers, and develop healthier coping mechanisms in both academic and personal life.
Students were encouraged to openly share experiences in a safe and supportive environment, creating a platform that fostered peer learning and reduced the stigma often associated with mental health challenges. The session also emphasized the importance of early recognition of stress and seeking appropriate support when needed.
Speaking on behalf of the student leadership, Medical Club President Ms Farah Logday, an MBChB student at the university, highlighted the importance of such initiatives in strengthening student wellbeing.
She noted that mental health awareness is an essential part of medical training and student life, adding that the Medical Club remains committed to organizing programs that support both academic excellence and emotional resilience among students.
The session was well received by students, who appreciated the opportunity to engage in open dialogue and gain practical tools for managing stress effectively.
