Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) came alive with vibrant cultural displays, music, and spirited activities as students and staff gathered to commemorate African Freedom Day.
The event, held on campus, served as both a celebration and a moment of reflection on Africa’s path to independence, unity, and self-determination. The day was marked by fun-filled moments, traditional dances by students, and an uplifting musical performance by renowned Zambian artist, Kinz World, who energized the crowd with thrilling music.
In the spirit of education and reflection, TAUZ faculty member Dr. Francis Daka delivered a powerful and thought-provoking address on the significance of African Freedom Day. He emphasized the importance of remembering the sacrifices made by African nations in their fight for independence and the need for young people to embrace their identity and take up the mantle of leadership in shaping the continent’s future.
“Our heritage is our strength,” Dr. Daka said.
The celebration brought together a diverse community of students, staff and faculty, showcasing TAUZ’s commitment to promoting cultural awareness and unity on campus. From dance competitions to traditional wear showcases, the event was a colorful expression of African pride and togetherness.
