Over 250 teachers from various public and private schools in Lusaka District converged at Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) for a transformative Teachers Training Workshop under the theme: “Empowering Teachers for Zambia’s New Curriculum – Enhancing STEM Education, ICT Integration & Career Readiness.”
The workshop, held at the university’s Lilayi Campus, aimed to build the capacity of educators to effectively deliver the revised Zambian curriculum with a strong focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), ICT tools, and career guidance for learners.
Gracing the event as Chief Guest, Lusaka District Education Board Secretary (DEBS), Mr. Ian Miyoba, commended TAUZ for its initiative, describing the workshop as a timely intervention in strengthening the education sector.
“We are in an era where technology is driving every sector of development. It is therefore essential that our teachers are well-equipped with practical skills in ICT and STEM education to meet the demands of the modern learner,” said Mr. Miyoba. “Texila American University has shown commendable leadership by stepping in to supplement government efforts in teacher capacity building.”
Mr. Miyoba urged the participating teachers to take full advantage of the knowledge and tools shared during the workshop to positively impact their classrooms and learners’ futures.
TAUZ Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ajay Poddar, in his welcome remarks, reaffirmed the university’s commitment to educational advancement and national development through partnerships with educators.
“At Texila, we believe that empowering teachers is one of the most effective ways to shape the future of a nation,” said Prof. Poddar. “This workshop is not just about academic instruction; it is about building a generation of learners who are technologically literate, STEM-oriented, and career-ready. Our goal is to support the Ministry of Education in driving a modern, skills-based curriculum.”
