Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) hosted an exciting and action-packed 3-day Sports Week that brought together students and staff in a vibrant celebration of fitness, teamwork, and school spirit. The event, held at the university’s Lilayi campus, featured a variety of sporting activities designed to foster unity and promote wellness among the TAUZ community.
Throughout the three days, participants engaged in a wide range of competitive and recreational events including football, netball, volleyball, marathon, chess, pool, and table tennis. The fun continued with traditional games such as the sack race and egg-on-the-spoon challenge, which added a light-hearted twist to the festivities and encouraged widespread participation across all age groups.
MBChB 2 team emerged as overall champions.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajay Poddar praised the initiative for its role in promoting a healthy balance between academic life and physical well-being.
“Sports Week is more than just games—it is a reflection of our commitment to holistic education,” said Prof. Poddar. “We believe in nurturing not only the minds of our students but also their bodies and their sense of community. Events like this bring us together, build relationships, and instill values like teamwork, perseverance, and fair play.”
The Sports Week concluded with a prize-giving ceremony recognizing outstanding performances and exemplary sportsmanship. Winners across various categories were awarded medals and certificates.
