In a dedicated effort to contribute to the health and well-being of the local community, Texila American University (TAU) organized a successful and impactful free hypertension screening event for the residents of Lilayi. The event took place on 22nd July 2023, and it marked a significant step towards raising awareness about hypertension and promoting early detection for better health outcomes.
Event Highlights:
Community Engagement and Education: The TAU team, comprised of medical professionals, faculty members, and enthusiastic student volunteers, collaborated seamlessly to make this event a success. They set up a welcoming and informative environment that encouraged active participation from the Lilayi community members.
Hypertension Screenings: The highlight of the event was the provision of free hypertension screenings to attendees. State-of-the-art equipment and techniques were employed to ensure accurate and reliable measurements. Medical staff and students were available to explain the importance of blood pressure readings, answer questions, and provide guidance on maintaining healthy blood pressure levels.
Interactive Workshops: In addition to the screenings, informative workshops were conducted to educate attendees about the risk factors associated with hypertension, its potential health implications, and preventive measures. The workshops were designed to be interactive and engaging, enabling attendees to grasp the concepts easily and take away actionable insights for healthier living.
Counseling and Consultations: Individuals found to have elevated blood pressure levels were offered personalized counseling sessions. These one-on-one interactions provided an opportunity for attendees to understand their condition better, discuss potential lifestyle modifications, and seek guidance on accessing further medical care if needed.
Community Empowerment: The event aimed not only to diagnose and educate but also to empower the Lilayi community with the knowledge and tools necessary to make informed decisions about their health. Attendees were equipped with resources, educational materials, and referrals to healthcare facilities for follow-up care.
Partnerships and Future Initiatives: The success of the free hypertension screening event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of Texila American University, local healthcare providers, and community leaders. This event serves as a stepping stone for future health-focused initiatives, reinforcing TAU‘s commitment to making a positive impact beyond the classroom.
Texila American University remains dedicated to its mission of enhancing healthcare and well-being through community engagement and education. The university looks forward to future opportunities to partner with the Lilayi community and continue the journey toward improved health for all.
