Texila American University Zambia recently held its annual orientation for incoming medical students at its Lilayi campus. The event marked the beginning of an exciting chapter for these aspiring doctors as they were warmly welcomed into the university community.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajay Poddar kicked off the orientation by extending a heartfelt welcome to the new students. With a friendly demeanour, he assured them that Texila American University Zambia would be their home away from home throughout their academic journey.
During the orientation, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Dr Balamurugan Easwaran and Registrar Madam Suguna addressed the students, encouraging them to embrace the challenges ahead with enthusiasm. They emphasized the importance of academic dedication and encouraged participation in extracurricular activities to enhance their overall experience.
Dr. Amit Singh, the dean of the medical school, introduced himself along with other key faculty and staff members, providing the students with an overview of the support system available to them.
Throughout the day, various departments presented the range of services and resources offered by the university, from cutting-edge laboratories to comprehensive library facilities. The presentations aimed to familiarize the students with the tools they would need to excel in their studies.
A highlight of the orientation was the diverse makeup of the student body. With students hailing from over 16 countries around the world, the cohort represented a rich combination of cultures and backgrounds. This diversity promised to enrich the learning experience and foster global perspectives among the students.
In addition, the students were introduced to the Student Representative Council, a student-led organization aimed at advocating for the needs and interests of the student body. This provided an avenue for students to actively engage in campus life and contribute to its vibrant community.
As the orientation came to a close, the new medical students left with a sense of excitement and determination. Armed with knowledge, support, and a network of peers from around the world, they were ready to embark on their journey towards becoming compassionate and skilled healthcare professionals at Texila American University Zambia.
