Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) is steadfast in its mission to provide world-class medical education, fostering the development of future healthcare professionals through comprehensive clinical training. In line with this commitment, the university has undertaken a rigorous review of its Psychiatric and Mental Health Clinical Rotation Logbooks, a vital component of the MBChB curriculum.
This initiative is spearheaded by Dr. Amit Singh, Dean of the School of Medicine, in collaboration with Dr. Francisca Bwalya, a highly respected Consultant in Psychiatric and Mental Health at Chainama Hospital. Their combined expertise ensures that the logbooks are meticulously designed to enhance students’ clinical learning experiences. The review process focuses on incorporating contemporary psychiatric practices and aligning the training with global medical education standards.
By refining the clinical rotation framework, TAUZ aims to equip its MBChB students with a deeper understanding of psychiatric and mental health care, empowering them to address complex mental health challenges effectively. The updated logbooks serve as a structured guide for students, enabling them to document their clinical encounters systematically while gaining hands-on exposure to real-world patient care under expert supervision.
This collaboration underscores TAUZ’s dedication to bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, preparing graduates to excel in their medical careers. With initiatives like these, Texila American University Zambia continues to uphold its reputation as a leader in medical education and a catalyst for transformative healthcare advancements in Zambia and beyond.
