In a bid to bridge the gap between academic theory and practical industry experience, students from the School of Business at Texila American University Zambia recently embarked on an industrial tour at Varun Beverages, the bottlers of Pepsi in Zambia. The tour provided the students with a unique opportunity to observe real-time business operations and gain valuable insights into the beverage industry.
The visit to Varun Beverages is an integral part of the university’s academic requirements, designed to ensure that students receive practical exposure to complement their classroom learning. During the tour, the students were given a comprehensive overview of the company’s operations, including production processes, quality control measures, supply chain management, and marketing strategies.
One of the managers at Varun Beverages, welcomed the students and provided a detailed presentation on the company’s history, growth, and operational dynamics. The students were then taken on a guided tour of the facility, where they witnessed firsthand the various stages of beverage production, from bottling and packaging to distribution.
Speaking about the experience, a business student Chileshe Mutale expressed his enthusiasm. “This tour has been incredibly enlightening. Seeing the theoretical concepts we learn in class being applied in a real-world setting has deepened my understanding of business operations. It’s an invaluable experience that I’m sure will benefit my future career.”
Dr. Vincent Bizimana, a head of department in the School of Business at Texila American University Zambia, emphasized the importance of such industrial tours. “Practical exposure is crucial for our students. By visiting companies like Varun Beverages, they can connect their academic knowledge with industry practices, preparing them for the challenges of the business world.”
The tour concluded with a Q&A session, where students had the chance to interact with Varun Beverages’ team, asking questions about the company’s strategies, challenges, and future plans.
