Texila American University Zambia has officially launched its new Ph.D. programs in Public Health and Management.
The event, held at the university’s Lusaka campus, featured key figures, including Mr Fray Michelo, President of the Zambia Union of Nurses Organisation; Mr Maambo Mumbuluma, the National Coordinator of the Public Health Association of Zambia, and Mr Mwewa Besa,, President of the Zambia Institute of Marketing.
In his welcome address, TAUZ Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajay Poddar emphasized the significance of the new Ph.D. programs. “Today marks a significant step forward in our mission to advance research and academic excellence,” Prof. Poddar said. “By introducing these programs, we aim to cultivate scholars who will drive innovative solutions and address critical challenges in public health and management.”
Fray Michelo, representing ZUNO, highlighted the need for enhanced research to tackle emerging health issues. “As we confront new health challenges, robust research is crucial,” Michelo noted. “This program will equip future researchers with the tools needed to make a substantial impact on public health.”
Maambo Mumbuluma of PHAZ echoed this sentiment, stressing the role of research in shaping effective health policies. “Investing in public health research is essential for developing strategies that improve health outcomes and build resilience against pandemics,” Mumbuluma stated.
Mr. Mwewa Besa of ZIM spoke about the importance of the Ph.D. in Management for economic development. “Effective management research will drive growth and innovation in Zambia’s business sector,” Besa remarked. “These programs will provide the expertise needed to address complex market dynamics and support sustainable development.”
The launch of these Ph.D. programs at Texila American University Zambia represents a major advancement in the country’s academic and research landscape, promising to contribute significantly to addressing Zambia’s health and management challenges through rigorous research and education.
