Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) continues to prioritize hands-on learning for its medical students, fostering a deeper understanding of Environmental Health through practical experiences. Recently, TAUZ students had the opportunity to participate in an insightful field trip to Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ) in Kafue, an essential component of their Environmental Health curriculum.
The visit aimed to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and real-world applications, providing students with an up-close view of industrial processes and their environmental implications. Under the guidance of their lecturer, Ms. Niza Rean, the students explored NCZ’s facilities, gaining practical insights into sustainable industrial practices, waste management, and environmental safety measures.
During the tour, students observed how NCZ integrates environmentally responsible operations, emphasizing waste reduction and occupational safety protocols. These efforts align with Zambia’s broader environmental health goals, giving students a firsthand perspective on the role of industries in promoting sustainable practices.
Ms. Niza Rean underscored the value of such field trips, remarking, “These experiences are crucial for our students as they provide a direct connection between theoretical studies and practical applications. Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia serves as an excellent example of balancing industrial growth with environmental stewardship.”
The visit also emphasized the importance of environmental health expertise in addressing public health challenges. By equipping students with these critical insights, TAUZ reinforces its dedication to producing well-rounded, industry-ready professionals capable of tackling Zambia’s pressing environmental and public health issues. This initiative highlights TAUZ’s commitment to academic excellence and sustainable development.
