Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) marked a significant milestone with the official launch of its innovative IT degree programs at the Lilayi Campus. The event saw a gathering of distinguished guests from prominent organizations in the technology sector, including the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA), the Information and Communication Technology Association of Zambia (ICTAZ), Airtel Zambia, and Zamtel Limited.
The event commenced with a warm welcome from Prof. Ajay Poddar, Vice Chancellor of TAUZ, who expressed the university’s unwavering commitment to advancing the education sector and contributing to national development through its new IT programs. Dr. Balamurugan, Deputy Vice Chancellor, provided an insightful overview of the IT courses offered by the university, highlighting their accreditation with the Higher Education Authority.
Ms. Chewe Mutale, Manager for Digital Forensics and Consumer Education at ZICTA, commended TAUZ for its groundbreaking initiative in launching the IT programs. She emphasized the critical role such initiatives play in fostering technological advancement and skill development within Zambia.
Dr. Clement Sinyangwe, President of ICTAZ, lauded TAUZ for its dedication to promoting IT education and announced ICTAZ’s readiness to collaborate with the university. He further expressed intentions to establish a dedicated chapter for TAUZ IT students, solidifying the partnership between the university and the industry association.
Mr. Paul Chikubwai, IT Director at Airtel Zambia, extended congratulations to TAUZ on the launch of its IT programs and expressed Airtel’s readiness to partner with the university. Recognizing the potential for mutual benefit, he emphasized the importance of fostering innovation and addressing industry demands.
Mr. Stone Ligomeka, Chief Technical Officer at Zamtel Limited, commended TAUZ for its commitment to advancing IT education and assured Zamtel’s support. He expressed keen interest in potential collaborations to further enhance the IT ecosystem within Zambia. The event concluded with a tour of TAUZ’s state-of-the-art computer lab, providing guests with a firsthand look at the facilities and resources available for IT students. ICTAZ reiterated its plans to establish a dedicated chapter for TAUZ IT students, underscoring the collaborative efforts between the university and industry stakeholders.
