Students at Texila American University Zambia (TAUZ) came together to celebrate Zambia’s 60th Independence Anniversary with a series of engaging and educational activities. The event, filled with vibrant energy and national pride, provided students with an opportunity to reflect on the significance of Zambia’s Independence while also enjoying a fun-filled day.
The celebration began with a vital safety talk delivered by Mr. Jestona Lupiya, the Station Inspector for Lilayi Police. His insightful presentation focused on the importance of personal and community safety, underscoring the responsibility that students hold in contributing to a secure and peaceful society, just as Zambia’s independence was won through unity and perseverance.
Following the safety talk, Vice Chancellor Prof. Ajay Poddar gave an insightful talk on the importance of celebrating Zambia’s independence. Students were also treated to captivating performances of traditional dances that highlighted Zambia’s rich cultural heritage. The colorful dances were a reminder of the diversity and unity that Independence Day represents. An informative talk on the significance of Zambia’s Independence given a faculty member Prof Luke Zulu further enriched the event, as students learned more about the country’s history and the struggles that led to its freedom from colonial rule.
