Texila American University takes immense pride in celebrating the National Heroes and Unity Day on behalf of all the Zambians. We organized this event on July 3rd, 2020, at our Zambia campus. This day commemorates the hard struggles of freedom fighters perished during independence. Unity Day aims to encourage national unity among the 70+ ethnic groups that make up the Zambian people.
The first president of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda, first spoke of the Unity Day slogan: “One Zambia; One Nation!” The scope of this national event widened and gained its new name as the Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF).
Thus, on this day, we were happy to celebrate the national heritage and identity-diversity and take up the fighters’ spirit in the coming days and years ahead!
