This is the story of a teen girl who got the opportunity to study medicine at our Texila American University. To everyone’s surprise, this girl has also received a scholarship. Texila American University takes the privilege of making her dreams come true.
This single girl is going to create a significant impact in the future. She is Farah Logday, a young girl who crossed boundaries to write her own story. She is breaking ground in people’s perspectives on education. Are you wondering how this girl’s educational opportunity impacts the community? Breaking new ground in education
“Don’t focus on a black dot on a canvas. Move from that dot and create your picture”, says Farah motivating many young minds.
In this ever-evolving world with easy access to technology, there are still some barriers in the community. This includes permitting the girls to study abroad. Besides the obstacles and the constraints, few girls write their storylines. In this line of hopeful young girls, there is another girl named Farah Logday.
In 2019, she became a non-medical volunteer with Operation Smile. At that time, she was a Grade 10 student at Islamia College in Cape Town. This was her major step which made her realize that she must cross many boundaries to accomplish her dreams.
She realized her passion!
“With Operation Smile, we meet students in different countries, that is really what broke the borders for me and encouraged me to study abroad. When we are educated abroad, we break barriers created thousands of years ago,” says Farah.
During this volunteering with Operation Smile in South Africa, her passion for helping others solidified. She then applied for a medical program at many universities.
She chose Texila American University to accomplish her dream education.
“When I applied for universities, I kept an open mind. I searched for medical universities in the world and that is when this University popped up.”
We provisionally selected her for a scholarship with her Grade 11 marks. She was chosen as one of the international students in Peru’s international student leadership conference in 2020. Unfortunately, this did not materialize in another international trip and was held virtually due to the pandemic.
A good deed will reap its benefits.
Besides the pressures of pandemics, she made countless efforts. Her perseverance bore her the rewards but after some storms and struggles. During the June examinations, her parents, Zareena and Siraj, were diagnosed with Covid 19.
How can the best reward deck your way without a few hardships?
Her academics were affected. She missed four weeks of school. But again, she proved herself. With her fighting spirit and some help, she made her way to our university by retaining her full scholarship.
To all the parents: ‘Support her dream, she will make you proud one day!’
Her parents are of great support to her. They reflect an excellent pathway to their community.
“My husband says I never want her to say that she had this opportunity in life and we never let her take it. This is why we decided to be happy and support her,” says Zareena.
Zareena is an entrepreneur. In her family, education is vital. Her father, Siraj is a semi-retired lawyer still busy with humanitarian work, and her brother Taariq, who just graduated as a Scientist, has set great examples.
Farah says to the class of 2022 and other youths: “We need to have open minds about education because it doesn’t have borders. You can go anywhere in the world to study anything you want. You will need to learn to adapt, but students were able to learn how to adapt.”
“No matter where you go and where you get in, everyone’s career comes to the same. Whether you study to be a doctor, journalist, editor, scientist, artist, or anything, it will come out to be the same, so you can go anywhere in the world to study for the career you want.”
Her words are an eye-opener to many students. We will witness a significant impact on our campus and community very soon. Her motivated mind and spirited soul drive many people to help others.

Moreover, Farah Logday recently met president Cyril Ramaphosa who encouraged her to follow her dreams in a personal motivational conversation.
What she is today is the impact of Operation smile. Back then, she said
“To see that smile that anyone can give you just warms my heart and makes me feel as if I am making a difference in someone’s life.”
This opportunity made a difference in her life today. Texila takes pride in supporting her to accomplish her dream of becoming a surgeon.
