Texila American University Zambia’s MBChB students recently spearheaded a significant Hypertension Campaign at The Heritage Food Festival Event in the Chalala area. This initiative was designed to raise awareness about hypertension and its potential health implications. Throughout the event, hundreds of residents took part in the screening process, which enabled the students to identify individuals with high blood pressure. Following the screenings, the students provided valuable health advice to those affected, emphasizing the importance of managing hypertension through lifestyle changes and regular medical check-ups.
The campaign served a dual purpose of educating the community about the critical need for regular health screenings and highlighting the university’s strong commitment to community service and public health. The students’ efforts were warmly received by the community, reflecting their dedication, professionalism, and the high standards of their training. This impactful initiative not only benefited the participants but also underscored the role of medical students in promoting health and well-being in their communities.
